The UH-1Y Venom (also known as “Yankee”) is a twin-engine, 4-blade, medium-sized multi-purpose versatile helicopter built by Bell. It is part of the Huey family and includes the latest technology. It has a new four-bladed rotor system, new engines and transmissions, integrated digital cockpit and helmet-mounted sight display. Its forward-looking infrared sensor system detects and displays incoming threats.
The UH-1Y and AH-1Z share 85 percent parts commonality. The UH-1Y was designed to reduce costs while increasing maintainability and deploy ability. This commonality reduces training costs and shrinks the need for extra logistics.
